Temporomandibular joint (TMJ)
The Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is on each side of the head at the top of the jaw. It is the joint that connects the jawbone to the skull and the joint at the back of the head. The exact cause of a person’s TMJ disorder is often difficult to determine, but common causes include:
- Teeth grinding, also called bruxism
- Teeth clenching
- Stress
- Nail biting
- Degenerative joint disorders
- Infections or injuries to the jaw
How Can Chiropractic Care Treat TMJ?
A chiropractor provides spinal manipulation. When spinal manipulation is applied, this can take the pressure off of the neck and spine. In turn, you may experience a reduction in pain.
Make your appointment today with Dr. Jeffrey Klein, Klein Chiropractic Center, who can diagnose and help to reduce your pain associated with TMJ.
